Do you think Jesus may have known a little something about the human heart? Why do you think he said not to call anyone teacher, or father, he even said, we are not to allow anyone to call us a teacher. Because as he said, we are all equals, as brothers and sisters in the Lord. His reason was to let us know that He alone is our leader, our teacher. We are not to follow a man, because a man will fail us at some point. If my Pastor was to stumble at some point, it would be sad, I would pray for him, and ask for God's mercy and grace to be present in his life. But his failure would not impact my faith in Jesus one bit! I do not follow a man. Yes he is my Shepard, and my guide, but he is not the one I follow.
I guess I'm a little bewildered when non-believers point out the failure of a minister and claim that is why they don't believe. Whoever said that a minister is our example of perfection? In fact if a minister ever made that claim ,I would run as fast as I could in the other direction. Our example of perfection, and the one worthy to be our "Leader" is Jesus alone.
